Chapter: 968
Initially, she had expected Nikolas to be harsh, because that scoundrel never had a kind word to say. His unpleasant nature was undeniable.

Sure enough, as the two people spoke, the girl's face grew distressed, and tears began to stream down her cheeks.

Watching a fellow woman cry, Aimee's heart softened. She dialed Nikolas’ number, wanting to tell him not to be too harsh while dealing with his ex-girlfriend. But just as the call went through, she saw Nikolas grab the girl by her clothes and drag her into the car.

Then he just drove off.

Stunned, Aimee instinctively hung up the phone.

Where was Nikolas taking his ex-girlfriend?

Could he be dropping her home?

Aimee continued to watch until Nikolas' car faded in the distance before finally stepping away from the window.

Her sixth sense told her that something wasn't right.

However, she couldn't put her finger on what was wrong. Nikolas hadn't shown any hint of affection towards the girl; he had simply driven her away.

Aimee recalled that he had mentioned the girl was his friend's cousin, which might explain the situation. He must have felt obligated to personally see his ex-girlfriend off.

Just then, Henson knocked on the door.

“Your mom is about to start making dinner. Are you coming to join us?"

"Oh, sure." Aimee quickly composed herself and walked over to open the door. "Do you have all the ingredients ready?"

"Yes." Henson smiled. "Do you know if Nikolas prefers strong or light flavors? Your mom and I tend to cook on the lighter side. If he likes stronger flavors, I can always add more salt.”

"He'll eat anything."

Aimee pulled a chair over, washed her hands, and sat down at the table.

Victoria glanced at her daughter, sensing that something was amiss.

“Where is Nikolas?" she asked.

She had been so busy in the kitchen that she hadn't noticed Aimee until now.

"He has some work to take care of at the company." Aimee wanted to preserve the positive image Nikolas had finally managed to establish in her parents' eyes. “He's been working hard lately, so he hasn't had much time to spend with me."

Henson, who had also washed his hands, came over and said in a serious tone, "A man should have a sense of responsibility when it comes to his career. Don't be hard on him, okay? You'll be spending the rest of your life with him, so try not to throw tantrums all the time. Nikolas has already been very accommodating to you."

"Dad, how could you switch sides so quickly?" Aimee pouted. “You didn't want us to be together before, but now you're defending him at every turn."

"Your dad was just concerned that since Nikolas was so rich, he might not treat you sincerely," Victoria chimed in. “But later, we saw that he truly treats you well. With his background, he could have any girl he wanted. The fact that he always revolves around you proves his sincerity."
