Huh?

I turned my head towards him and was met with his gaze locked on me.

“I’m glad you’re a doctor here, but I’ll only give you one week before I pick you up” His tone changed and now he sounded cold as he spoke to me.

Is he serious?!

“Very funny!!” I replied sarcastically and made him raise his eyebrows with an emotion that I knew was anger.

He folded his arms across his chest and I couldn’t help but notice his huge muscles before looking back into his eyes. D*mn him and his hot body!

Focus, Gwen.

“Do you see me laughing, my dear?” He said coldly with a clear aura of anger.

My dear, my a*s!

Why is he angry?!

I should be the one angry!!

And it made me laugh, not because it was funny but because I was annoyed.

“Yes, very funny” I said between laughs and he looked at me with a very sharp gaze but said nothing as if waiting for me to continue my conversation.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down a little “What makes you think I want to be your mate now? That I will easily come with you to your palace to become your puppet?” If earlier he only looked angry, this time he looked dangerous with obvious anger.

I knew challenging an Alpha wouldn’t end well for me, especially since he’s the Alpha King.

After I said that I wouldn’t go along with him that easily, he just let out a long heavy sigh before leaving.

As I opened my office door after a busy day at the clinic, I was surprised to see two women standing next to my office door.

“Who are you guys?”

They bowed respectfully “We are your bodyguards, my queen” replied one of the women who has darker skinned and bald “I am Alexa and she is El, we are assigned by the king as the queen’s bodyguards to always protect the queen while outside the palace” she replied and surprised me.

My bodyguards?!

Is he serious?!

I thought I’d die right then and there for challenging him, expecting that he’d put two bodyguards to follow me around while I’m in my father’s town.

“I don’t need a bodyguard” I quickly pointed out and dismissed them.

“Forgive us, we only want to protect you, my queen” replied the woman with short hair who was still bowing respectfully, El.

Whispers were heard around me and I knew by now that everyone must know who the Alpha king’s mate was that he claimed last night.
