She surveyed the room quickly. They were alone.

Even though the one now in front of her was Blake, an acquaintance, Alicia did not put down her weapon but instead concealed it behind her back as she took a step back.

"Mr. Langstaff, what brings you here?" Alicia asked when she saw that he hadn't fully lost control. "Who did you meet with earlier?"

Blake grimaced in pain.
