Chapter: 460
They spent the next few moments eating in silence. When she realized that Caden had no intention of confessing, Ciara decided to prod him along. "Have you heard from Yolanda? She mentioned that she'll be coming to Warrington in a few days."

“Warrington is so cold this time of year," Caden replied noncommittally. "What's her rush?"

Ciara's eyes narrowed meaningfully. "Are you saying that because you are concerned for her, or is it because you don't want her to come at all?"

Caden placed a piece of fish on her plate without saying anything.

Ciara waited, but he didn't even acknowledge her last question.

And Caden wasn't about to. In the first place, he had only sought help from the Moss family because Dorian Moss, the patriarch of the family, had once been involved in a secret project.

Despite its initial success, the said project was forcibly shut down and wiped out because it threatened to disrupt the social order as the world knew it.

But Caden desperately needed the knowledge and expertise expended in that venture.

After years of searching, he finally found Dorian. The latter was the only one left from his team who was still alive. Needless to say, Caden was left with no other choice.

He had proposed a deal with the Moss family, but they claimed that they wanted nothing in return. They volunteered their help without any fuss.

So Caden was quite taken aback when Dorian refused to meet up.

Instead, he sent Yolanda, whom he had trained for over a decade.

“Yolanda is smarter than I am, and she wants to explore the world. I entrust my daughter to you, Caden. Take good care of her.”

These were Dorian's exact words.

The Moss family, though not flamboyant, possessed considerable influence, a fact Caden was well aware of.

The Ward family was at the forefront, with the Moss family not far behind.

Moreover, the senior members of both families had maintained a strong friendship for many years.

Since he had initially sought their assistance, now that the Moss family had extended a proposal, to decline it would be to insult them.

Breaking the silence, Ciara said, "You're aware that Yolanda has had feelings for you since she was young, aren't you?"

Caden replied casually, "No."

"Well, now you are aware."

"That's not particularly good news."

Ciara agreed.

She had never been fond of Yolanda, always finding her to be moody and high-maintenance.

While Yolanda was certainly intelligent, she was also delicate and excessively coddled by Dorian, who indulged her every whim.

If Yolanda were to join the Ward family, Ciara knew the outcome.

She would need to be treated like a queen.

Ciara sighed. “Regardless, I'd prefer a cheerful, optimistic granddaughter-in-law."

Caden replied, "I view marriage as a business deal."

This irritated Ciara a bit.
