She quietly sought help. “Monica, I want to leave."
Monica, slightly drunk and cheerful, asked loudly, "You want to leave?"
Alicia was dumbfounded.

Indeed, Monica's loud question drew Gerry's attention. “Why so soon? Caden just arrived."
