Chapter: 496
Was it too late?

If Caden was indeed involved with someone, why had no one spoken of her? Yolanda voiced her concern to Ciara.

"Is Caden still single?" she asked.

Ciara observed her anxious expression and replied with a gentle smile, “He keeps his personal life private, so I'm not sure."

Yolanda bit her lip. “But if he's already committed, why would he accept my father's marriage proposal?"

“He agreed to your father's proposal?" Ciara responded in surprise.

“That's news to me."

Yolanda was taken aback.

She became slightly pale, expressing her worry. "I thought Caden brought me to Warrington for that reason."

"You should speak with Caden to clear up any misunderstandings,” suggested Ciara, before she headed upstairs.

Once Ciara had closed the door behind her, she exhaled deeply and remarked to Jasmine, “I'm relieved I'm not young anymore. Living day after day with such a difficult daughter-in-law would wear me out if I were Caden's mother."

Jasmine, who tended to take things at face value, responded, "But Mrs. Ward, isn't she quite gentle and level-headed?"

"That means little. She's dishonest. She fabricates events as if they are absolute, and she points fingers at Caden."

It was clear why Caden had never developed feelings for her over the years.

Jasmine was puzzled by Ciara's perspective but noted one thing distinctly. “It seems Miss Moss doesn't quite match her in beauty.”

Ciara suddenly looked up, her movement sharp. “You've seen her?"

Jasmine confirmed, "Yes, I encountered her once outside Mr. Ward's office. She's the heiress of the prestigious Bennett family, which fell apart three years ago."

After dropping Gerry off, Caden made his way back to his nearby apartment.

At the entrance, the security guard immediately recognized him and respectfully greeted him, "Mr. Ward, there's a package here that's been waiting for you. Could you please sign for it?"

Caden's brow furrowed. "What package?"

Online shopping was not something he typically engaged in.

The guard, mindful of not delving too deeply into personal details, handed it over. “I'm not sure what it is. You might want to check."

Caden inspected the label. His phone number was listed, but the recipient was named Cade.

He understood then.

The package contained dog food Alicia had ordered online.

He briefly held the package before throwing it onto the counter.

"Dispose of it or sell it. Keep any money you make," he said and then left.

The guard waited until Caden was well out of sight before picking up the package, driven by curiosity.

He was surprised.

The package contained a luxury imported brand of dog food, specifically for puppies. Caden had discarded it with such ease.
