Chapter: 521
He had intended to help solve her problems, but upon reviewing the documents, he saw that she had nearly completed everything.
She had put all her savings into the venture. Moreover, her recent efforts had secured contracts with everyone except a few with hidden agendas.
He realized he had no place to step in.
He shut the folder. "So, what is she occupied with now?"
Hank contemplated aloud, saying, “Just getting ready for the future, I suppose. After all, who would complain about having too many clients?"
Caden's eyes fell as he remembered the scene he had seen in the hallway. His lips pressed into a tight line.
He said, "As stubborn as they come."
Hank chose not to respond.
In his mind, he thought he could say the same about Caden, who was among the most stubborn.
He reminded Caden, saying, "Mr. Ward, considering Ms. Bennett's current condition, are you still planning to go to Averibon the day after tomorrow?"
Caden responded coldly, “Why wouldn't I?"
Hank asked, “What if Ms. Bennett needs your assistance?"
"She wouldn't even want me at her funeral. Do you think she needs me now?" Caden said, feeling a tightness in his chest as he pulled off his tie.
Hank murmured, "You two aren't even in a relationship, yet you behave like a arguing couple."
Caden's expression toughened. "What was that?"
Hank quickly softened his approach. “Let me get you a cup of coffee."
With that, he hurried off.
At night, Alicia was in her hospital bed, speaking to Monica on the phone.
Monica shared, “I checked on Cade. He's thriving. The staff really adore him, and they've bonded quite well."
Alicia said, “That's great. Have you been busy lately? I haven't seen you in days."
"Let's catch up the day after tomorrow. I should be free then. I'LL swing by and pick you up from the hospital."
"Okay." Alicia began to make plans, saying, “What would you like to eat? I will make a reservation ahead of time."
Monica, feeling worn out, began to list a variety of delicious foods.
After a brief pause, she asked, "Alicia, have you really ended things with Caden?"
Alicia felt a pang of sadness.
"Yes. He has someone else now."
Monica asked, "So, if he were still single, would you want to get back together with him?"
Alicia opened her mouth but was at a loss for words.
Deep down, when she had apologized to him that day, she realized her profound love for him.
She even hesitated, thinking about going all in with Caden.
