Chapter: 577
Didn't she find it odd that he was nowhere to be seen this morning?

Caden's brow furrowed slightly as he pondered this.

Just then, he received a call from Gerry.

Gerry's voice came through excitedly. “I just bought a new sports car! It's awesome. I'll pick you up this afternoon, okay? Let's go to the celebration party together."

Caden replied, "Celebration party?"

Gerry sounded surprised. "Yeah, Alicia's party. Didn't you know?"

Caden rubbed his chin, deep in thought.

Alicia's celebration party?

He recalled her mentioning it once-she had promised to throw a gathering once she was settled in. However, her hectic schedule had kept her from making any plans.

What had she said back then?

Once everything was arranged, he would be at the top of her guest list.

She had even called him her most significant supporter.

Yet, Gerry had received an invitation, while he remained completely in the dark.

Caden snorted in frustration and told Gerry, "No need to come pick me up. I am busy."

Oblivious to the underlying tension, Gerry lamented, "I just got this car, you know. It is the only one in Warrington! No amount of money can get you another one. Cliff pulled some strings to get it here. Are you not even a little tempted to take it for a spin?"

Caden, feeling exasperated, yanked off his tie. "Why don't you just drive your flashy car all the way to the moon?"

Gerry looked taken aback. “What has got you so riled up?"

Caden ended the call, the frustration still simmering within him.

He swiftly dialed Alicia's number, eager to speak with her.

On the other end, there was a discord of sounds, but Alicia's voice rang clear and bright. “What's up?"

Hearing her cheerful tone, Caden could not help but scowl. "You seem pretty busy, are you not?"

Alicia replied, "A little. Are you not busy as well? I am surprised you found time to call me."

“Why should I be busy?" he retorted.

Noticing the irritation in his tone, Alicia chose not to engage further. "I am not sure, but I can tell you that I have got a lot on my plate right now.”

Caden picked up on the unusual quality of her tone.

She sounded too considerate to be real.

He ventured, “Are you upset because I did not say goodbye before I left this morning?"

Alicia smiled brightly. “Why would I be upset? I would not bother saying goodbye when I leave either."

Caden fell silent for a brief moment.

He had planned to explain his departure, but now it seemed pointless.
