Chapter: 579
Jerald casually redirected the conversation. “Caden, you really are cold-hearted. Every family experiences its ups and downs. It is perfectly normal for brothers to clash when they are younger. Do you really need to hold onto this grudge?"

Caden's demeanor remained unfazed as he replied, "You are right. It is normal for brothers to fight. After all, Joshua is not dead. Why are you so anxious?"

Jerald's expression shifted, a flicker of concern crossing his features.

"You won't even show mercy to your own brother. In the end, you will be the one to suffer. Every wicked deed brings its own consequences."

"I believe that," Caden said, a chilling smile playing on his lips, his gaze sharp. “You are experiencing the consequences of your actions right now."

“I am not as ruthless as you!" Jerald shot back, trying to regain control.

Caden crushed his cigarette into the ashtray, leaning forward with his arms resting on his knees, his stare unwavering.

“Oh really? You have never betrayed your own family?"

Before Jerald could defend himself, Caden pressed on, “My mother passed away during childbirth. The baby, perfectly healthy, suffocated in the womb. Tell me, was that not a result of your actions?"

Jerald was taken aback by the frigid grin that lingered on Caden's face.

It was as if Caden had dropped his mask, revealing sharp, predatory teeth poised to strike.

“That was a case of medical negligence. How is that my fault?"

Jerald's complexion drained of color. “I understand your bitterness toward me, but I didn't kill anyone. I refuse to take the blame!"

Caden replied slowly, “Your acknowledgment means nothing to me. I will act according to my own will."

A chill of sweat broke out on Jerald's brow.

He recognized Caden's power, but he hadn't anticipated that Caden would be aware of that past incident.

The situation was spiraling beyond his control.

"Caden, what are your intentions?" Jerald demanded, a tremor Lacing his voice.

Caden smiled, a chilling glint in his eyes. "I had plans, but Joshua beat me to it. Do you remember how you fell ill back then?" He tossed a medical report onto the table in front of Jerald. "Take a look. See for yourself your precious son's actions."

A few sheets of paper slammed onto the table, sending a cold breeze swirling through the room.

Jerald glanced down at the documents, his ears ringing with anxiety.

He had no idea what the report contained, but Caden's implications were unmistakable.

He had once experienced a sudden, severe illness and had wondered if it was the result of sabotage.

He suspected it might have been the handiwork of business rivals or scheming senior directors.

Yet, he never once considered that it could be Joshua behind it all.

He had always been Joshua's father, indulging him since childhood and granting his every wish. He viewed Joshua as the rightful heir.

Why would Joshua betray him like this?

Jerald found it hard to accept Caden's accusation. "If Joshua was behind it, then why did he go to such lengths to care for me during my hospitalization?"

Caden responded, “Because he felt guilt. Unlike you, he still has a conscience."

He glanced down at the report resting on the table, a silent reminder of the gravity of the situation.
