Chapter: 608
Later that evening, Alicia lay with her back turned to him as she planned her trip to Averibon.
Caden draped an arm over her waist and closed his eyes. "I think I need to get away for a while too."
Alicia turned her head slightly and asked, “Another business trip?"
"Just some personal matters to attend to," he replied.
"Okay," she replied.
Caden noticed the rhythmic tapping sound coming from her phone, so he opened his eyes to see what she was doing.
A jewelry advertisement flashed on the screen, and Alicia inadvertently clicked on an online shopping app.
A pink gemstone captured her attention.
Women often found themselves attracted to shiny objects, and she couldn't resist glancing at them a few times.
Caden inquired, “Do you like it?"
She nodded in agreement.
"But we already have more than enough jewelry at home, and I don't wear most of it," she stated. "There's no need to buy it. It would only be a waste of money."
Caden let out a Light chuckle.
"The gemstones from this brand aren't even genuine. When I visit Averibon in a few days, I'll bring back a raw stone and have a designer create something unique from it."
Alicia turned to face him.
“That sounds pricey," she remarked.
Caden wore a playful half-smile. "Ms. Bennett, your profits from just one project amount to tens of millions of dollars, but you hesitate to buy a gemstone that catches your eye?"
"It's not just about the money. Wearing something that large would be far too ostentatious," Alicia said with a chuckle. "I'd look like I'm showing off my wealth."
Caden drew her in closer.
"Get some rest," he said.
Caden's trip involved taking Yolanda for treatment.
Hank began packing his bags and asked, "Does Ms. Bennett know about this?"
Caden wrapped his scarf around his neck.
“I haven't mentioned it to her," he replied.
Hank said cautiously, “What if Ms. Bennett discovers you're going alone with Miss Moss.. Caden frowned at the suggestion. “Do you really think I'm having an affair with Yolanda? Why would I need to be so careful?"
He was off to take care of business, so there was no reason for him to feel guilty.
Besides, he didn't need to explain every detail to her.
Hank, who had worked alongside Caden for years, understood him well.
He asked, “But you'll be away for a significant amount of time. Didn't Ms. Bennett inquire about it?"
Caden nodded. "She did."
