Caden's jaw fell open.

This was why she called? To have him take care of a dog?

He couldn't help the bite in his voice when he said, "So you're more concerned about a dog than me?"

Alicia asked, “Are you really comparing yourself to Cade? Cade is a pet. He's dependent. Are you suggesting you're like him?"

With unwavering confidence, Caden responded, "Yes."

Alicia was left dumbfounded.

Alicia was aware that Caden often behaved unreasonably, yet his latest statement surpassed all expectations.

He had genuinely compared himself to a dog!

Exhaling deeply, she retorted, "I sympathize with your situation, but I'm not the one who can assist you. Perhaps you should consider contacting the authorities to look after you."

Caden replied, "Then why not call them for the dog?"

"I am responsible for Cade. I'm his owner," Alicia said. Shifting the angle of the discussion, she teased, "If you agree to be my pet, then, of course, I'll look after you too. Is that what you want?"

Caden fell silent, dropping the argument.

"I don't have time to care for the dog. He might as well fend for himself. If he doesn't make it, I'll just get another."

His voice was coldly detached. Alicia recognized he was provoking her deliberately.

She rolled her eyes in exasperation.

With the maid away for the holidays and no one else to turn to, she had reluctantly reached out to him.

"Alright, if you're not willing to help, let's leave it at that.”

Alicia ended the call briskly.

Caden's demeanor was cold, devoid of any warmth.

Their exchange was void of overt hostility or arguments.

Yet, there was an irksome quality to it that irritated him.

Once again, Alicia had managed to irk him profoundly.

After completing his work for the day, he selected a robot and took it home.

Once activated, this robot wasn't just programmed to perform household tasks. Feeding the dog was just one of its many functions.

It was also equipped with dual cameras, allowing it to surveil the entire apartment continuously.

Caden initiated a video call to Alicia.

After she accepted, the camera displayed Cade, happily wagging his tail while eating.

Interestingly, the robot engaged in a light chat with Alicia.

She responded with a few casual remarks.

Caden was nearby, out of the camera's sight, so Alicia couldn't see him.
