She was aware that she needed to find a new home eventually.

Securing a new place was preferable to an eviction by Caden.

Post-call, she glanced down and noticed Cade was missing.

Panicked, she began searching.

Then, suddenly, a figure in white stood before her.

Alicia halted and looked up to see Yolanda.

Yolanda, holding Cade in her arms, greeted her with a smile. "Ms. Bennett, we meet again."

Alicia eyed Yolanda cautiously as the latter petted Cade.

Cade, typically wary of strangers, wouldn't have allowed Yolanda to hold him under normal circumstances. He was immobilized. A wire was tightly wound around his neck, threatening his life with the slightest tug.

Alicia was taken aback by Yolanda's ruthlessness.

Yolanda had set her sights on a dog!

With her fists clenched, Alicia cautiously said, "Yolanda, let's sort this out. Please return the dog first."

Yolanda offered a harmless smile. “It's so obedient. I tempted it over with some food. If only you were as compliant.”

In a moment of distraction for Yolanda, Alicia made her move.

Yolanda didn't evade but tightened her hold instead.

Cade let out a whimper as a faint red started showing through his fur.

A pang of agony struck Alicia's heart, prompting her to halt abruptly.

“What is it that you want?" she demanded. Alicia's gaze hardened. "If he suffers any harm today, I swear you won't leave this neighborhood unscathed."

Yolanda laughed lightly. “Was I not clear? Alicia, is it really so terrible to live without pride?"

Alicia understood Yolanda's intentions well.

"You came for Caden? Don't fret. He will be yours in time. There's no need to hasten my departure."

Yolanda queried, “Then why remain here? Are you unwilling to leave?"

“Departing is inevitable," Alicia conceded smoothly.

Yolanda, sensing a change in Alicia's demeanor, speculated it was related to the Averibon incident.

Surprised by the profound impact of such a seemingly minor matter, Yolanda smugly inquired, "So, when will you leave?"

Alicia fixed her gaze on Cade.

"Return the dog to me, and I will leave today," she declared.

Yolanda couldn't suppress her amusement.
