Chapter: 662
Alicia's voice dropped lower. "You've made your choice between me and Yolanda clear. I wanted to turn a blind eye and stay because my Love for you was so deep. But Caden, you've Let me down too often. You've made me feel... insignificant. I asked if you would marry me, and you couldn't even offer me a comforting lie."
A single hot tear landed on Caden's finger.
His body stiffened.
His throat worked as he spoke, his voice rough. “I was wrong."
Alicia cried more intensely, yet managed a smile at him.
His stubbornness was legendary. His rare show of vulnerability only deepened her sorrow.
"No need to say sorry to me. I'm the one who stands to lose." She gently unwrapped Caden's fingers from hers. "Let's just leave it here."
Caden's eyes were dark and turbulent, filled with emotion.
"Alicia."
Alicia interrupted him as she said, “There's no need for more words. You're the high and mighty Mr. Ward. Why should you tarnish your pride for me?"
Caden tightened his hold on her wrist, compelling her to look at him.
"Do you really want it to end this way?"
There was an extended silence in the hospital room.
Caden's phone kept ringing.
He ignored it, his gaze fixed on Alicia.
Her eyelashes quivered as tears streamed down her face. "Caden, if I could turn back time, I wish I could go back to the night you returned to the country. I'd rather face death than have sought you out."
Caden became quiet.
He gradually loosened his hold. “Alright. As you wish."
Alicia's eyes looked even more puffy.
Still, she stubbornly kept her tears in check, determined not to break down.
He stood and spoke with an air of detachment. "Rest well."
Exiting the room, he paused for a moment.
It felt as though his heart was shattering, as the cold wind swept through the corridor, chilling his blood until it nearly froze.
After a significant pause, he walked away.
He headed to the lounge where only Ciara and Dorian were present.
Noticing Caden's grave face, Dorian narrowed his eyes slightly. "How is Alicia? Is she doing okay?"
Caden took a seat. "Her hands and feet are frostbitten, and she's just gotten over a fever."
Dorian's expression grew heavy with remorse.
“If Alicia needs anything, just let me know," he offered.
Caden said, "Is that so? Then let's go over it in detail."
