Chapter: 784
"No need for further testing," he said. "Just give him some fluids to replenish his nutrients after the vomiting."
The doctor looked surprised but nodded.
Alicia's eyes narrowed as she turned to Caden. “What's that supposed to mean?" she demanded.
Caden hesitated, glancing around at the others nearby.
The doctor, sensing the tension, cleared his throat and excused himself .
Under Alicia's intense gaze, Caden finally admitted, "I got up early this morning and decided to make breakfast."
Alicia raised an eyebrow. "Since when do you cook?"
“I don't. Just thought I'd try," he said, shrugging.
Realization dawned on Alicia. "So, Cade got food poisoning from your cooking?"
"Not exactly," Caden replied, looking slightly embarrassed. "While I was plating, I accidentally dropped a piece of food on the floor, and he snatched it up."
Alicia stared, momentarily speechless.
Collie hadn't shown any distress at the time; he just looked at Caden with a confused expression before wandering back to his bed.
Caden had assumed he was fine, not realizing the dog had such a stoic nature.
Understanding the situation, Alicia was at a loss for words.
After all, Caden was only trying to cook breakfast, not make poison.
“That explains the strange smell this morning. And.what happened to the pots and pans?" Alicia asked.
Caden's face darkened slightly. "I threw them all out."
“ALL of them?" she asked, shocked.
“Pretty much. They didn't survive the attempt."
Alicia was too stunned to respond but decided not to scold him.
At least the dog was going to be okay, and the house hadn't burned down. That alone felt like a victory.
Suddenly, remembering something, she looked at his hands. “Did you get hurt?"
Caden considered the minor injuries nothing.
However, as they were at the vet already, Alicia insisted on treating them.
Nurses were busy, so Alicia didn't want to disturb them. She grabbed the first aid kit and attended to Caden's wounds on her own.
There were burns and cuts, a few injuries in total.
None were critical, yet they were persistently painful.
As Alicia applied the cool iodine, Caden observed her calm expression and twitched his fingers.
Alicia stopped and looked up at him. “Does it hurt?"
Caden clenched his teeth. “No, it feels great."
