Moses crouched and slipped his arms around her. Her head pushed stubbornly against his chest. "I don't want to drink."

The anger melted out of him at once, replaced by something gentler. His voice softened. "It'll help your head. Let me."

She wriggled in protest. "I said I don't want it!"

So he kissed her—slow and deliberate—passing the honey water from his mouth to hers until the mug was drained.

Only then did she go quiet, relaxed against him, her skin still carrying the sharp scent of alcohol.
