Chapter: 1547
With each passing second, she found it harder and harder to breathe.
Was this the end for him?
It did not feel real at all. It was surreal to think that Victor was dead. In her subconscious, she could still see Victor sitting on his chair inside his office, looking apathetic as usual.
The cremation lasted for one and a half hours.
Rachel looked at the light on the upper part of the cremator. It finally went off.
"Here you go." Carson handed her a piece of paper. It was the document that would allow her to claim the ashes.
Rachel stared at it blankly.
“Before Victor left, he told me to give you his ashes," Carson explained.
Rachel did not take the paper. It seemed as though she was in denial, but she was not sure if it was because of Victor's death or something else.
“Victor said he broke his promise. He wanted to stay alive for you to kill him. However, because he failed to do that, he could only leave his ashes to you so that you dispose of them."
Rachel sneered, and her eyes burned as she looked at Carson.
"Was he not afraid that I might throw his ashes into the bin?"
"You can do whatever you want with them." After a pause, Carson added, "That's what he said."
Rachel clenched her teeth together as though to keep something from escaping.
She did not take Victor's ashes.
She tore the paper in front of Carson and threw it into the brazier.
It was the only way she could think of to calm her rage.
“He's staying here." She turned around, her eyes landing on the asphalt road.
"Let him wallow in his sorrow and endure this isolation forever."
After saying that, she left without looking back.
Carson stared at the burning paper, lost in thought.
"Did you see how much she hates you?" Carson tore his gaze away from the brazier and fixed it on the window in front of him.
A reflection of a person in a wheelchair, clad in black from head to toe, could be seen on the glass.
Inside the CEO's office of Sullivan Group, Maria sat on the sofa.
With her perfectly manicured hand, she gently stroked its armrest.
