Chapter: 1698
Hearing it, Rachel subconsciously covered her feet with the blanket.
She realized she willingly followed his advice but stopped herself from overanalyzing again.
She looked at the foot of her bed and asked, “Aren't you cold? If you want, I can get the blanket in my room so you can use it.”
Without waiting for Alberto's reply, Rachel turned the bedside lamp on and lifted her blanket to climb out of the bed.
Of course, offering the blanket was just an excuse. The awkward air would suffocate the life out of her if she didn't go out for a breather.
After a moment, Rachel emerged from her room with the blanket. When she reached the corridor to Alberto's room, her steps slowed as hesitation flickered inside her.
The strange dream she had earlier flashed in her mind. Her Lips pursed as she remembered seeing Victor in it, lying beside her in the bed and soothing her. She suddenly felt conflicted.
Except for their voices, Alberto and Victor were two completely different people with different personalities, demeanor, and appearances. How could she keep subconsciously mixing them up?
Looking at the slightly ajar door, Rachel frowned.
After a while, she took a deep breath to calm her troubled heart.
She pursed her lips briefly before pushing the door open.
There was no other light in the room other than the bedside Lamp, dimly illuminating Alberto's masked face on the floor. Rachel slowly walked over and crouched down with the blanket in her arms. Seeing Alberto's eyes were closed, she asked quietly, "Mr. Gibson, are you asleep?"
Alberto suddenly opened his eyes, deep and piercing. Rachel couldn't help feeling drawn in when their gazes locked.
"No." After a moment, Alberto spoke. His voice was slightly hoarse, but it sounded alluring in the quietness of the night.
Rachel found it so fascinating that her gaze flew to him. But when her eyes met his, she quickly averted her gaze.
“Here's the blanket."
Alberto looked at her, then at the blanket, his Adam's apple bobbing as he uttered a silent, "Thank you."
Perhaps because Rachel wasn't used to sharing a room with a man, she felt awkward talking to Alberto on the floor while crouching down.
She hurriedly placed the blanket down.
ALL this back-and-forth tension in the air had kept them awake until one in the morning.
Rachel was about to walk over to the bed when she felt a cramp in her leg. The sudden shot of pain made her wince and go momentarily off balance.
"Ah!"
Seeing her about to stumble, Alberto instinctively reached out to steady her.
However, Rachel wobbled at the sudden pull, causing her to fall to her knees and tumble over into Alberto's arms.
