Chapter: 1737
Rachel scooped a spoonful of the stew and put it in a small bowl.
When she heard his dull response, she couldn't help shaking her head.
“You know what? With your way of conversing, you can even lull God to sleep."
"Oh, yeah?" Alberto asked.
Rachel looked at him amusingly.
Did he still need to ask her?
She stared at the mask on his face. Then, she realized that perhaps it wasn't entirely his fault that he wasn't much of a conversationalist.
First, he had limited opportunities to go outdoors because of his health constraints. Second, his disfigurement forced him to wear a mask all his life.
Because of these two factors, he had few or even no friends, let alone someone he could chat with.
At the thought of this, a sense of pity rose in Rachel's heart. She felt sad for him.
She decided to change the topic.
"By the way, how was your checkup today? What did the doctor say?"
Their meal would take a while, and they couldn't keep eating in silence all the time, so Rachel thought of other things to talk about.
Alberto continued eating in a composed manner. He replied casually, “Same as usual."
"Is it hard to cure?"
Alberto nodded.
"Yes."
Rachel had never been clear about Alberto's illness. It wasn't mentioned in the information she had obtained. It seemed all the records related to his condition were so deeply hidden that she couldn't unearth it even with the power of the Red Hackers.
And this only piqued her curiosity even more.
"So, is there no way to treat it? You returned to Apliaria this time because you found a suitable treatment method, right?"
After being silent for a while, Alberto asked, "Are you concerned about me?"
Rachel hesitated, holding her fork, and then she smiled.
"You are my boss now. Shouldn't I be concerned about you?"
Alberto's gaze was intense as he stared at her momentarily before finally averting his eyes away, without saying a word.
