Chapter: 1778
Carson glanced at Jeanne and gave a polite nod.

Seeing how nervous Jeanne was, Rosa couldn't contain her laughter.

Jeanne felt a bit embarrassed. She raised her hand to touch her nose and suddenly recalled Libby's earlier comment. "Mr. Scott, are you joining us for lunch?"

"Yes, Maya hasn't seen Carson in a while, so she wants to have lunch with him." Libby was worried that Jeanne might have a change of heart. "Do you mind, Jeanne?"

“Definitely not." As soon as the words left Jeanne lips, something struck her.

She turned to Rosa with wide-open eyes, as if she were attempting to get the truth from Rosa through her gaze.

"He's Maya's father." Rosa understood Jeanne's thoughts. She nodded and admitted.

Jeanne's mouth opened slightly as she looked from Rosa to Carson, and then down at Maya. In that moment, she was at a loss for words.

They soon reached Valmead Club.

Throughout the meal, except for Maya, who was happily eating, they didn't have any appetite and were lost in their own thoughts.

There was an eerie silence hanging in the air, making Jeanne uncomfortable.

To break it, she added a large chicken drumstick to Maya's plate and said, “Maya, you have to eat more chicken drumsticks so that you will grow up quickly."

Maya looked at her in confusion and asked, “Is it good for growing up?"

Jeanne was at a loss for words for a moment.

She only said those words just now to ease the suffocating atmosphere. She didn't expect Maya to ask a follow-up question. If it was someone else, she might just say growing up wasn't necessarily a good thing.

But she knew that Rosa was currently fighting with Carson for Maya's custody.

If Maya was older, the legal process wouldn't be this complicated. And the verdict would likely favor Rosa.

Personally, Jeanne didn't think growing up was a good thing. Adults had to deal with different responsibilities, and some even exceeded their capacity.

However, for Rosa, it was different. If Maya was a grown-up, they didn't need to be separated.

“Maya, how about me? What do you think of me?" Jeanne asked, changing the topic.

Maya tilted her head and looked at Jeanne for a while. "You are beautiful."

Jeanne smiled, pinched her cheek, and cooed, “When you grow up, you will also be as beautiful as me."

“Mommy, is it true?" Maya looked at Rosa expectantly.

"Yes." While eating, Rosa seemed too distracted to pay much attention to Jeanne and Maya's conversation.
