Chapter: 1796
After saying that, Rosa then lifted Maya and prepared to depart.

Rachel observed Rosa leaving, a hint of understanding in her eyes.

She knew why Rosa was so cautious around her. Despite being prepared for such a reaction, Rachel didn't anticipate Rosa's high level of guard against her.

She couldn't help but sigh, realizing that she might feel the same way as Rosa when she returned from abroad with her own child and bumped into Victor.

Glancing at her watch, Rachel realized she had been aimlessly strolling in the mall for almost half an hour.

She looked around to ensure she wasn't being followed. Then she headed towards the mall's exit, planning to catch a taxi home. She would return to drive her car later.

As she exited the shopping mall, she spotted Rosa and Maya standing near the road, waiting for the traffic Lights to change. They were standing a bit too close to the road. Rosa was about to step forward with Maya in her arms, just as the traffic lights were about to turn green.

Suddenly, a car raced towards them.

"Look out!" Rachel hurried to Rosa, grasped her arm, and yanked her back from the edge of the road.

The traffic lights switched from red to green.

The speeding car didn't slow down at the pedestrian crossing. Instead, the driver floored the gas pedal, zooming past Rosa and Rachel.

The car was so swift that nobody could discern the gender of the person in the driver's seat.

"Oh my God! That was too close! What's wrong with that driver?" a bystander exclaimed, looking at Rosa and Rachel, who were both catching their breath.

Rachel glanced at Maya and then at Rosa. “Miss Moran, are you alright?"

Rosa stared at her with a blank expression for a moment. It wasn't until Maya held her and called out to her with concern that she came to her senses. "Mommy."

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang Her heart raced wildly. Perhaps due to fear or her heart beating too fast, causing a slight reddening of her eyes.

Looking down at Maya, Rosa asked, “Maya, are you hurt? Is everything alright?"

“Mommy, I'm okay." Maya looked up at her and smiled.

Only then did Rosa's heart settle. She embraced Maya tightly, her voice shaking as she spoke. "I'm relieved you're safe. We almost..."

“Mommy... Maya didn't understand why Rosa was so worked up, but she sensed her unease. She gently patted Rosa's back with her tiny hand and said, “Mommy, don't be scared."

Rosa closed her eyes. “Thank goodness you're safe. Mommy would be so worried if anything happened to you."

"It's alright. Don't worry." Maya didn't fully comprehend the situation, but she made an effort to comfort her in a childlike way.

Rosa swiftly regained her composure and steadied her emotions. She put down Maya, held her hand firmly, and then turned her attention to Rachel. “Miss Davis."

"Just call me Shelia," Rachel said.
