Chapter: 1817
About half an hour later, a cop in his uniform, sporting a scowl and a serious nod, said, "Alright, we've got a rough sketch of what went down. We appreciate the help.” He then turned to Libby, who had been gripping June's arm, and said, "Come with us, please.”

Libby shook her head firmly. "No way! I didn't do it! How can you just take Rosa's word for it?"

The cop's scowl deepened. “Libby Moran, it's everyone's duty to cooperate with the police. I strongly suggest you cooperate with us.

If you're innocent as you claim, coming along will help clear things up."

With that, he reached out to subdue her.

Libby, fear flashing in her eyes, dodged and hid behind June. "I am not going with you! I didn't do anything!"

Tears streamed down June's face as she watched the scene. "Rosa, are you seriously planning to put Libby behind bars?"

“Everyone has to face the music for what they've done!" Rosa replied, her face a mask.

June closed her eyes, a tear sliding down her cheek. At that moment, she made her decision. Opening her eyes, red from crying, she turned to the police. "It wasn't Libby. It was me. I pushed her into doing it all. If someone's getting arrested, it should be me."

Both Rosa and Libby were taken aback.

Before Rosa could say a word, Libby jumped in, "Yeah, that's right.

It wasn't me. It was my mom who put me up to it. I don't know anything."

June stared at Libby in disbelief, her heart breaking at how easily Libby shifted the blame to her.

“Arrest her, not me... Libby's words came out without her even meeting June's eyes.

“Officers, please... Take me in." June closed her eyes, feeling crushed. She extended her hands, letting the police handcuff her.

Seeing this, Rosa found it absurd. June would sacrifice herself for Libby, while Libby tossed her aside without a second thought. What a “good daughter" she had!

“Rosa, I'm sorry." June turned to Rosa, bowing deeply. “I'm so sorry, for everything."

Rosa, with an impassive face, only snorted, lost for words.

Eventually, despite Libby's protests and attempts to defend herself, the police took her away alongside June. Even as they were being escorted, Libby kept yelling, questioning her arrest and vowing to hire a lawyer.

Standing at the gate, Rosa watched as the mother and daughter were loaded into the police car, which soon vanished from her sight.

Her eyes darkened, and she decided to leave. She had gotten what she came for and didn't want to linger. She had a feeling that when her father returned from the hospital, he'd likely blow up and fall ill again.

“Wait, a maid called, rushing after her.

Rosa halted, turning to the maid chasing her. "What is it?"

"Please take this." The maid handed her a scarf. "Your mother spent several nights knitting this scarf for you. It was meant to be delivered today, but she didn't expect..."
