Chapter: 1829
"Why weren't you with Mr. Gibson?" Rachel asked him.

"Well, I am going to him later." Dewey stood up. "Let's go, Miss Bennet."

Rachel followed him to the vestibule. Before she got in, she remembered something, so she stopped and turned to Lila. “Lila, I may be gone for a few days. You can go home and rest if you don't have anything else to do. Don't worry because I will pay you as usual.”

“Miss Bennet, where are you going?" Lila asked, her voice tangled with worry.

"I have some work to do, Lila." After some thinking, she decided to explain more. "These things are tricky, and it would be more convenient for me to live in the project department's dormitory while I'm at it."

“But isn't that far away? How about I prepare meals for you? Miss Bennet, I'm worried that you won't be able to eat well because of how busy you are."

“Don't worry; there will be people preparing my meal. And besides, as you said, it's pretty far from here. I wouldn't want you to go all that trouble." Rachel gave Lila a reassuring smile. "Lila, get some rest. If Andy calls, tell him that I'm busy."

Andy's words were the primary reason why Lila was worried.

Even though she was happy to have a long time to rest, she didn't know how to explain it to Andy given that he paid her a lot to take good care of Rachel. If anything bad happened to her, Lila wouldn't know how to explain it to Andy.

"Well... Okay."

Rachel went in the car with Dewey and left.

After driving for a while, Rachel became less sleepy. She was awake enough to notice from her peripherals that Dewey kept on checking the time on his phone.

"Dewey, do you have something urgent to deal with?" Rachel realized that Dewey would also leave Apliaria to join Alberto later. He must have had something else to do, that was why he would depart at a delayed time. However, if he drove her now, he wouldn't be able to do that task.

"No." Dewey locked his phone.

"If you have something important to do, you don't have to drive me.

Someone else can take me there. Besides, don't you have to catch the plane?" Rachel told Dewey with concern.

"The most important thing now is to send you back safely, Miss Bennet. I can get another plane ticket if I wouldn't make it now, anyway," Dewey said.

Rachel was flustered with Dewey's choice of words. “The most important thing is to send me back? What do you mean?"

Rachel had a vague guess, but she wasn't entirely sure. She needed to hear it from Dewey first. When she looked at Dewey, she couldn't hide the confusion in her eyes.

"Actually, I didn't set out with Mr. Gibson today because he asked me to send you back to the project department safely first. But the matter over there also needs to be urgently taken care of, that's why he has to go first. It can't wait." Dewey hesitated for a while before telling her. He figured she also had to know.

Rachel was too stunned to speak. She didn't expect Alberto to care so much that he would command Dewey to do something like that.

He had already planned to ask Dewey to send her back last night.

Right from the beginning, he had already made up his mind to leave Apliaria alone to take care of the emergencies.

Rachel's thoughts went back to Alberto's words last night. Her heart sank from the realization.
