Chapter: 1837
Karen's anger manifested in the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest, and her eyes reddened.
"Rachel," Ethan acknowledged Rachel as the second person to notice her presence.
Observing the unfolding drama by the door, Rachel, unsure of the situation, nodded in response to Ethan's greeting and inquired, "What happened?"
"Klein is engaged in corporate espionage!" Karen exclaimed.
Rachel's eyes momentarily froze as she processed the information.
Glancing at the tablet Karen had thrown on the desk, she couldn't discern its contents but noticed Sullivan Group's trademark.
Having a rough idea, she questioned, “Corporate espionage?"
Shayla hesitated briefly, then spoke up in defense of Klein. "No.
Karen lacks evidence to substantiate that it's Klein.”
Karen sharply turned her gaze toward Shayla, and if looks could be lethal, Shayla would have been drenched in blood.
“Shayla, you are still protecting Klein!"
“But I'm telling the truth," Shayla retorted with discontent.
"The truth? The truth is that Klein had leaked the confidential information! He sold all our hard work these days! He betrayed us!"
The more Karen spoke, the more fervent her excitement became.
“But do you have any evidence? You don't, do you?" Shayla countered.
“According to what you said, everyone has access to the data of this project. Why are you so certain that Klein leaked this secret? Can't it be you?"
Pointing at herself, Karen exclaimed, "You suspect me?"
Shayla, realizing she might have spoken too hastily, pressed her Lips into a thin line and explained in a subdued tone, “You know that's not what I mean."
Unconvinced, Karen snorted. “That's not what you mean? Shayla, I believe that's exactly what you mean!" Don't think I don't know the reason why you're helping Klein — it's because you like him. But Shayla, you may fall for the wrong person!"
Karen unexpectedly laid bare Shayla's secret, leaving her blushing.
"Karen, you... Don't talk nonsense!"
"Do you really think I am talking nonsense! Why are you attempting to hide? You could ask anyone here! Who doesn't know that you have a crush on Klein?" Karen intentionally raised her voice, ensuring her words echoed throughout the office.
Shayla's face turned as red as a ripe apple. Whether it was from shyness or anger towards Karen remained uncertain. “Karen!”
Karen rolled her eyes.
