It was Carson himself who didn't bring Maya. They had never expected it.

“Besides, she never stopped me from seeing Maya, nor did she stop her from coming here. I meet with Maya on a regular basis. I just thought it wasn't fit to bring her here today."

After he finished his words, he took a deep breath and looked at Davenport. “Grandpa, my apologies. I know just how much you want to see Maya. I'm sorry I let you down today. I promise I'll bring her here in a few days unfailingly."

Davenport just looked at him without uttering a single word. After a few seconds, he finally sighed and stood up, making his way out of the dining room with his cane in hand.

Seeing that, Carson's grandma quickly asked, "Where are you going?"
