Expecting a message from Quintin, she pulled it out. She was surprised to find a friend request on Skype instead.

The username and profile picture were unmistakable: Barrett, the flamboyant figure she'd just met.

With a click, Rachel declined the request and looked up, ready to descend the stairs.

At the bottom, a figure stood with their back to her. The midday sun glinted off them, but couldn't banish a certain aloofness radiating outwards.
