It looked like he had brought every possible medicine from home, worried Alberto might not have what he needed.

"Have you finished your thesis?" Alberto asked.

"Not yet." Allen looked guilty when asked about his thesis. He quickly added, "My mentor allowed me to delay it for another month. Alberto, I didn't slack off! I was just too anxious to concentrate, so I asked for an extension. It's only a month; your project inspection lasts just two weeks. I'll still have time after we return; I promise to dedicate myself to writing it at home."

Alberto regarded him intently. "Does Dad know you're here?"

“He does," Allen replied with a smile. “Dad knows you're not feeling well and he's even more worried than I am! If he didn't have two important meetings, he would have come himself. So when he learned I had bought a plane ticket, he made me promise to update him immediately if anything were to happen."
