"Thank you," Rachel responded, accepting the glass and setting it on the coffee table.

Kalyn noticed the unease in Rachel's demeanor, yet remained silent, choosing instead to sit across from Rachel, waiting for her to speak first.

As the room threatened to sink into silence, Rachel narrowed her eyes slightly and ventured, “Kalyn, from the looks of your office, it appears you're more than just the attending physician."

Kalyn's eyebrows arched subtly, a flicker of emotion crossing her face. She chuckled. “Is that so? I thought you might say I don't seem much like a doctor at all."
