Chapter: 638
The calmer he was, the angrier Quintin got. Joey might have been prepared, but this was a big shock to Quintin.
"Joe!" Quintin shouted though gritted teeth.
"Get your ass back here!"
"No." Joey had already prepared himself for this situation. He moved the iPad a little further from him and gave his definite answer.
Quintin's temple throbbed as he realized that, it would be difficult to change Joey's mind.
Looking at Quintin's livid face, Joey put the tablet in front of him and decided to use a different method. With a sweet smile, he called softly, "Uncle Quintin..."
Quintin's eyes twitched as he looked at Joey's expression.
From his birth, Joey had always been a smart boy. He could read people's faces right from the moment he opened his eyes. He could tell through anyone's face, if he could get what he wanted by crying.
When he got a little older and became a toddler, the crying stopped.
Unlike ordinary kids that would cry to solve problems, he would smile.
Victor might be a jerk, but one couldn't deny the fact that he had good genes.
Joey had a handsome face. He had the same big eyes as Rachel, but every other feature of his, was from Victor. It was not difficult to see that when he grew up, he would look even better than Victor. The worst was when he smiled. His obedience, cuteness and charm could soften people's hearts with no difficulty.
Joey knew this very well and he used it to his advantage every single time. Every time he got into trouble or needed something from anyone, he would use his cuteness and charm to achieve his goals.
For instance, putting the blame on Quintin for something he did wrong.
Quintin knew Joey was a smart boy, but he would buy his trick every single time. Whenever Joey just smiled and called his name softly,
Quintin's resolve evaporated, and he was willing to give him everything he wanted.
This time, however, it obviously didn't work.
"Sorry Joe, but it's not going to work this time. I'm warning you for the last time. Take the earliest flight and get back here! If not, I will come over there and bring you back in person. Don't think I'm joking!" Quintin looked quite serious.
"Uncle Quintin!" Joey whined.
"Joe, you can go anywhere you want, except..." Quintin closed his eyes and couldn't continue. The memory of what happened four years ago quickly flashed through his mind like a movie. When he opened his eyes again, it had a sort of intensity Joey had never seen before. -Apliaria! I can't let you go and see Victor."
Joey pressed his lips into a thin Line and said nothing.
Quintin thought Joey's silence meant he was listening, so he pressed on, "Joe, listen to me. Come back quickly, okay? You said you wanted to go to the sea a few days ago, right? Once you come back here,
I'll take you to see the sea. How about that?"
Joey kept silent for a while as though he was thinking it through thoroughly.
“Uncle Quintin, I'm sorry," he said after a long silence.
