Chapter: 1135
Marlin figured she must have handled them roughly after he blacked out last night.

It then dawned on him that when she returned, she was carrying a gun.

This indicated that those men were far from ordinary.

He secretly gave Gerry another assignment.

After an eight-hour hiking, Marlin was overwhelmed with soreness, and he found himself unable to lift his feet any Longer.

Norah drove them back.

Her expression was cold and gave nothing away about her thoughts.

Since he was a child, Marlin had always been the one taking care of his loved ones. Yet, since meeting Norah, he felt like he had become someone who needed care.

This experience was unfamiliar to him, but he found it acceptable.

"Marlin." As they neared the hotel, Norah called out his name.

Marlin turned to her, puzzled.

Her facial profile was strikingly beautiful as she focused on the road. And her red lips moved slightly as she spoke.

"Even though we didn't find them, thank you for accompanying me on this journey."

“You're welcome. No matter where you go, I'm ready to follow."

Hearing his affectionate words, Norah remained composed.

“Marlin, the person I have feelings for is Sean."

“He doesn't show any concern for you. He's been distant for so long and even left you alone in the hospital when you were ill. After everything, you still have feelings for him?"

Marlin clenched his teeth and added, "I must confess, I've fallen in love with you the moment you rescued me. They grew even stronger after we met again. I really like you, Norah. I'm aware you're involved with someone else, and I intended to keep my feelings hidden, but I can't stand by and watch him mistreat you. You deserve better."

Marlin poured out his feelings in a single breath. Each word was laden with heartfelt sincerity.

Norah could sense his genuine feelings. Once he learned who she was, he became earnest in her presence.

That was the reason she turned him down when they could still be friends.

"Marlin, I get where you're coming from. However, a romantic relationship requires love from both sides, and love that isn't returned leads nowhere."

Norah coldly rejected Marlin, refusing to even look his way.

“We can stay friends, but nothing more. If that's not okay with you, it might be best if we don't see each other again."
