Chapter: 1587
She had mentioned Phillip's proposal to Sean, but all she saw was the cold expression on his face.
“If Phillip wants to marry my sister, he still has a few more years to go."
It seemed Sean wanted Phillip to wait. Poor Phillip, despite all those years of friendship with Sean, still couldn't secure his approval to marry his sister right away.
Norah gazed into Sean's eyes. "So, is it true that you have to marry before your younger sister does?"
“My father mentioned it’s a family tradition and has reminded me several times, but I haven't really taken it seriously." Sean pulled her close, his hands resting on her waist. “My mom mentioned she wants to cook something special for you tomorrow night. Are you free to join us for dinner?"
“Yes, I'd be happy to taste your mom's cooking.” Norah nodded.
“Since getting married, she seldom cooks herself. Honey, she really likes you."
Norah's eyes sparkled with pride, like stars in the sky. "I know I'm likable. I'll definitely be there tomorrow night.”
This dinner had been planned before Kayla's return to the country.
Norah was eager to attend. It was an opportunity to foster a strong relationship with her future in-laws.
The next evening, the Scotts’ house was brightly lit.
As Susanna and Phillip entered the house, she commented, "Mom and Dad really like Norah. Oh, and Grandpa's here too.”
Rodrigo’s health had improved significantly. He was now able to walk around and was recovering well.
He greeted them warmly. “Susanna and Phillip, good evening. I heard someone special is joining us tonight, so I decided to come"
Since his illness, he had been living alone in the suburbs with only a caregiver for assistance. Now healthier, he took an interest in family gatherings.
Susanna sat next to him, “We're delighted you're here, Grandpa. Indeed, someone very special to all of us is coming. I'll introduce her to you when she arrives, but you might already know who she is.”
Curiosity flickered across Rodrigo's face. “I'm familiar with her? Who is she?"
"I'll tell you when she arrives. Look, here they come now."
Susanna, always bright and lively at home, hurried to the door to welcome the guests as she heard the noise outside.
Rodrigo's gaze shifted to Phillip, and he called out to him slowly, "Phillip..."
“Yes, Mr. Scott, what's on your mind?" Phillip prompted.
“You've grown up with our family. I don't object to you being with Susanna, but I need to stress one thing: you must treat her well. She is very precious to us," Rodrigo said seriously.
“Don't worry. I will never let Susanna down. I'll always treat her well."
Rodrigo nodded, visibly relieved. He knew Phillip well and trusted him.
The Scotts felt confident in entrusting Susanna to Phillip, who could truly protect her.
The three people at the door entered together, and from a distance, Susanna's voice rang out. “Grandpa, they're here. Come quickly, Grandpa is waiting for you."
Susanna took each of their hands and led them to Rodrigo.
For the evening, they had dressed formally. Norah, in particular, wore an exquisite evening gown, ensuring she presented herself well to the Scott family.
Her silver dress, embellished with small diamonds at the chest, shimmered subtly. Her hair was elegantly styled into a bun on top of her head, showcasing her radiant and delicate features.
Diamond studs adorned her earlobes, accentuating her slender neck and figure. She looked stunning.
As she was guided forward, she smiled warmly.
Sean released Susanna's hand and grasped Norah's, introducing her with a firm voice. “Grandpa, this is my girlfriend, Norah Wilson.”
