Chapter: 1600
As the new director, her focus was clear, to maintain the hospital's quality of care and service. Managing the medical team could wait for later. Instead, she turned her attention to something more immediate—acquiring a fresh batch of medical equipment. For this, she reached out to the Dixon family, Leveraging the connections she had built long before stepping into this role.
Jaxson had left Glophia for Surella shortly after their last gathering, and Norah hadn't heard from him since.
But’ she wasn't relying on the influence of the Scott or Wilsen families. As the director of Peace Ark Private Hospital, she stood on her own, negotiating directly with the Dixons.
Despite their youth, Luka and Brigid had already taken on significant roles within their family businesses. Unlike the typical infighting that plagued wealthy families, the siblings worked together seamlessly to further the Dixon legacy.
Norah arranged to meet Brigid at a riverside cafe in Glophia. She brought Gilda along for the meeting.
Gilda and Chayce had been restless, bored of their semi- retired life at home. Norah decided it was time for them to return to work— no early retirement for them. Absolutely no way.
A short break was enough; it was time for them to return to work.
The tasks were light-helping with simple paperwork, gathering data, and occasionally putting together reports.
When Gilda realized she had been roped back in, she was taken aback. Hadn't Norah promised them a break? But knowing Norah needed her, she couldn't resist a little sense of satisfaction. Complaining was just a formality-when Norah called, neither she nor Chayce could refuse.
"Miss Wilson, here are all the details about Brigid. You can feel out her intentions today, and if everything goes well, the procurement will be sealed soon."
The purchase of the medical equipment was a huge investment, and Norah preferred to oversee the deal personally rather than leaving it to the hospital's purchasing team.
In the private room of the cafe, Norah settled in and started reviewing the documents Gilda had prepared.
Brigid managed the family's medical equipment company, a business with numerous contracts across public and private hospitals.
"I didn't realize Brigid was this accomplished at such a young age. No wonder I had a good impression of her last time," Norah said with genuine admiration.
Talented people always recognized each other's worth. Norah respected Brigid's capabilities.
"You could say the Dixon family is full of impressive people. Maybe it's all about their upbringing and education," Gilda remarked.
Norah narrowed her eyes slightly. "Good upbringing and education? I'm not so sure about that." She still harbored doubts about Phillip's connection to the Dixon family.
Gilda, intrigued, leaned in. "Do you know’ something interesting? Come on, spill the gossip!"
Norah smiled but shook her head. "I don't spread rumors. Especially ones I can't confirm. Now, I hear someone at the door. Go greet our guest."
Reluctantly, Gilda pushed aside her curiosity and welcomed Brigid, who arrived accompanied by just one assistant.
Brigid, dressed sharply in a business suit, radiated professionalism and looked like she had come straight from a busy day at the office.
"Sorry, I'm late. I ran into a last-minute issue at work," Brigid apologized as soon as she sat down.
"No worries." Norah slid the coffee Gilda had prepared towards Brigid and continued, "Drink this first. It'll help soothe your throat."
Meanwhile, with her head bowed slightly, Gilda opened the window of the private room. A gentle breeze with a hint of moisture flowed in.
