Chapter: 1608
"Let's go with my plan. We'll start with a board game—either the Werewolves of Miller's Hollow or Truth or Dare."
The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow was a well-loved board game, ideal for a night out with friends. As a tight-knit group, they sought more than just dining and drinking for entertainment.
The game involved various roles: a moderator, three werewolves, a witch, a hunter, a seer, and villagers.
Given their party of eight, they tweaked the roles—two would be werewolves, three would take on the special roles of witch, seer, and hunter, and the remaining three would be villagers.
After Susanna explained the rules, where the villagers' aim was to expose the werewolves to clinch a victory, and the werewolves sought to eliminate the special roles for their win, anticipation built among them.
She injected excitement into the gathering by volunteering as the moderator for the initial round.
"Alright, everyone, circle the table and stay poised. Remember, there are game penalties. Notice the pile of drinks in the corner? They're all set for you."
Always keen to elevate the fun, Susanna had arranged for a variety of premium drinks. Although drinking spiced up their outings, no one was compelled to consume beyond their limits.
"I'LL start dealing the cards now. Once you receive your card, keep it to yourself and heed my instructions."
After mixing the cards, she distributed one to each player.
"Now, look at your identity cards. Please close your eyes as it gets dark." A hush fell over the room, leaving only Susanna's voice audible.
“Werewolves, open your eyes."
Norah and Sean, surprised to find themselves as werewolves, exchanged looks. Could Susanna not have shuffled the cards impartially?
"Whom do you wish to eliminate?" Norah and Sean both pointed at Phillip, identifying him as the most astute player who needed removal early in the game.
"Alright, werewolves, close your eyes. Seer, it's your turn —open your eyes."
Alyssa opened her eyes, alert and curious. "Whom do you suspect?" Susanna inquired.
Alyssa gestured towards Bryson, and Susanna discreetly signaled that he was not a werewolf.
"Seer, close your eyes. Witch, now open your eyes."
Phillip, now playing the witch, opened his eyes. Susanna looked at him with sympathy. Poor Phillip had been ousted early in the game by the conniving werewolves.
"Someone died last night. Would you like to use your potion to save this person?"
Phillip indicated his decision to use the potion, and Susanna acknowledged his choice. Once he had his eyes closed again, she continued the game.
"Day breaks, and it was a peaceful night. Please, everyone, speak in turn."
Gathered around a round table, Sean, seated next to Susanna, was the first to speak.
"I have a good identity," Sean announced confidently.
