Chapter: 238
"Yeah." Norah unfolded the tale. "I wasn't wasted. I sprang into action when those bullies targeted Susanna."

A few drinks in, Norah sensed something between Frieda and Bart, so she started playing drunk.

But after a few too many, Norah felt a tad dizzy. Today marked her escape from the Carter family, and the happiness pushed her to drink more than usual.

Little did she know, her face turned red, and her eyes were dreamy.

She appeared intoxicated. Sean also thought so.

“Norah, you're inebriated. Can you manage if I drop you home?"

“Why can't 1?" The buzz of alcohol was somewhat addictive. Norah squinted, her tone charming. “If I can't handle myself, will you be there to help?"

“I will." When Sean's deep voice cut through the quiet car, Norah's heart softened.

Maybe it was the alcohol, prompting Norah to ask the question she posed over the phone today, "Sean, do you like me?"

"Yes, I do."

Hearing him reply without hesitation. Norah grew more perplexed. She asked herself silently, "Why would Sean like me? How could the head of the wealthiest and most influential family in Glophia be drawn to a divorced woman like me? Even if I was the Supernatural Doctor, so what? Why would Sean choose me over those more fitting?"

“\ihy?" Norah couldn't resist asking.

Sean gripped the wheel firmly. “Norah, you've had a few too many.”

"I'm not drunk. I'm clear-headed." Norah unbuckled her seat belt, holding onto the driver's seat. "Why?"

Her tipsy words and sweet breath caressed Sean's ears. His ears, sensitive as ever, blushed.

“Sean, why me?"

Her gentle breath, sweet and warm, swept across Sean's ear, setting his heart racing. Did he like Norah? He believed he did.

"Norah, let's get you home first, alright? I'm behind the wheel." He clutched the steering wheel tighter, fighting the urge to turn and gaze at the woman beside him. Her words had a mesmerizing effect, stirring something deep within him.

The car fell into silence. Glancing in the rearview mirror, he saw Norah slumped against the seat, her red-rimmed eyes closed in sleep, lips parted slightly. Her steady breaths filled the car.

She was so cute. That was the first thought that crossed his mind.

Seeing her asleep like that, he felt a strong urge to hold her close, to protect her.

But he shook his head, dismissing the absurd idea. Norah was clearly intoxicated tonight. Thankfully, nothing untoward had happened.

"Norah, wake up. You're home." Opening the back door, Sean gently shook her shoulder.

With a groan, Norah stirred but didn't open her eyes. "Feeling dizzy..."
