Chapter: 316
Turning to face the direction of the kitchen, Susanna loudly asked, "Norah, can I read the invitation on your table?"
“Sure."
Susanna gave Phillip a triumphant look and picked up the invitation to read its content.
"It's an invitation to Norah to attend her father's birthday banquet.
Isn't the Wilson family Norah's original family?" Susanna asked, confused.
Not long after, the answer came to her, and she said, “Norah hasn't returned to the Wilson family since her divorce!"
“The Wilson family only has one daughter, and that is Luna. Though the Wilson family claimed Miss Wilson is the second daughter, that remains doubtful," Phillip explained.
"Huh? So, Norah is not from the Wilson family? Why then did she marry into the Carter family as the Wilson family's second daughter?"
Susanna probed, puzzled.
"This is Norah's private life. If she doesn't speak about it, don't ask," Sean said sternly.
Susanna childishly stuck out her tongue at him and said, "Fine. I was just curious. I won't mention it anymore."
Susanna had read most of Norah's background information from Phillip's report. However, certain specifics were unknown to her.
“I do, however, sense ulterior motives behind this invitation. Norah seldom contacted the Wilson family, even after her divorce. Yet, the Wilson family still extended an invitation. This is fishy, don't you think?" Susanna rubbed her chin, sharing her concerns.
Patting her thigh, she announced, "Phillip, get me an invitation. I want to attend that birthday banquet too."
Phillip turned to Sean, his gaze inquiring. Susanna rarely attended events as a member of the Scott family, so not many people in Glophia recognized her.
Sean nodded at Phillip, saying, “Susanna is grown up now. She can make her own decisions. Do as she says."
"Alright," Phillip replied.
“I'll serve as moral support for Norah. If anything goes wrong, I can help handle it," Susanna declared.
Beside Susanna, Sean's gaze narrowed, but he remained silent.
Susanna's presence could indeed play a big part in resolving any issue that might come up at the banquet. Besides, if anyone dared lay a hand on Norah, Sean vowed not to show mercy.
After thirty minutes elapsed, Norah efficiently whipped up five dishes and a soup, comprising both stir-fried and chilled options, emanating a tantalizing aroma throughout the kitchen.
Susanna inhaled deeply, exclaiming, “Wow, the aroma is incredible!
I'm eager to dig in!"
The quartet took their seats at the dining table.
