Chapter: 527
Sheri then tried to forcefully push Norah, demanding Norah's attention. But Norah gracefully stepped out of the way, causing Sheri to almost lose her balance.
"You!" Sheri exclaimed, fuming. "You won't say anything, right? Wait until we get to the institute!"
As the overall head of the project teams, Sheri had seen researchers dismissed for their lack of contributions to the project teams.
“What's your name?" Sheri questioned.
Norah, however, continued to ignore Sheri. Engaging Sheri was far from a wise call. Eventually, Sheri would get the memo and stop harassing her.
Norah was not a member of the research institute and, as such, felt no need to show reverence to the head of the project teams.
Sheri was seething with anger as she spat out, "Fine! Just you wait!"
Sheri was determined to show the person who dared cross her what she was capable of.
With a ‘ding', the elevator doors opened, and Norah and Sheri stepped inside without a word.
Throughout the journey, Norah kept her head low, paying no mind to Sheri's spiteful looks. Norah remained calm and composed to the core.
As they approached the laboratory door, Sheri purposefully hung back a bit, watching Norah use her fingerprint and iris to unlock the door. This only reinforced Sheri's hunch Norah was indeed affiliated with the research institute.
Sheri vowed to let Norah know she had stirred up trouble. A huge one!
After gaining entry, Sheri followed and watched Norah walk confidently forward. Then, she demanded, “Hey, you! Which team are you with? Why are you so late? And why aren't you in a lab coat?
Get your team leader out now.’
Sheri's commanding tone caught the institute's staff's attention, and they all acknowledged her presence warmly.
"Hello, Miss Avila."
"Good afternoon, Miss Avila."
"Welcome back, Miss Avila."
Sheri enjoyed the researchers' deferential demeanor, relishing the atmosphere around her. This was precisely what she wanted.
"Well, speak up! Who recognizes her? Who's her supervisor?" Sheri persisted, rushing forward and reaching out for Norah's hand, but Norah dodged her hand.
Norah had maintained the same appearance for the past few days, dressed in all black with a mask and cap. Every researcher who crossed paths with her couldn't forget her striking presence.
Someone pointed out, “Miss Avila, she's an esteemed guest of the director."
"Oh? Is that so?" Sheri sneered, eyeing Norah with suspicion. "Should an esteemed guest of the director act so nervously? Why hide herself so much, like she's afraid of being recognized?"
Sheri assumed the researchers were just covering for Norah. She found it amusing. Considering her closeness with the director, she would know about it if there was truly an esteemed guest.
