Chapter: 132
Her assigned position was neither high nor low.

Colleagues were aware that she had got her job through connections but didn't regard her with much seriousness.

Externally, Ashley kept a composed smile, but inside, she seethed with anger.

She suspected that Alan wasn't entirely to blame and that his assistant might have orchestrated this setup.

"Miss Willis, this covers the basics. Here's your desk. Later, someone will drop by with your tasks," the employee concluded before turning to leave.

Ashley caught her arm gently. “It's my first day, and I'd love to buy lunch for everyone. Are there any good places to eat around here?"

The employee looked taken aback. “Buy lunch for everyone? We have over a hundred people here."

Ashley waved her hand dismissively. “I've been out of the game for a while now. Alan suggested I build some solid relationships and make a few friends."

The employee gave her attire a closer look, noticing that Ashley was dressed head to toe in designer labels, even sporting a Limited edition handbag.

The casual way she mentioned Alan sparked some curiosity.

“Miss Willis, are you close with Mr. Hewitt?" the employee asked.

Ashley had anticipated this question and offered a shy smile in response. “You have to keep this between us. Alan sent me here to gain some experience in the subsidiary and to oversee the operations a bit."

The employee's suspicions were confirmed. I see. But you really don't need to go all out spending like this.

Ashley's smile grew warmer. "You're absolutely right. Instead of splurging, how about I order some afternoon tea for everyone? You've been incredibly helpful. Just let me know if you have any preferences."

"There's no need for formalities. We're all colleagues here!" Despite her protest, the employee's demeanor had already become more receptive.

Ashley continued to exchange a few more friendly words before pulling out her phone to order an assortment of coffees and cakes.

Since she had recently sold some jewelry pieces, she could afford to treat everyone to afternoon tea.

Twenty minutes later, a contingent of delivery men converged at the reception desk.

"We're here to see Miss Willis."

The receptionist, taken aback, noted that all the delivery men sought the same person.

"Miss Willis?" The receptionist paused, contemplating. Aside from the recent addition to the staff, no one else bore that name.

"This is the deluxe afternoon tea for Miss Willis."

As they spoke, the delivery men began unloading their deliveries—over a hundred cups of coffee among other delights.

The receptionist's eyes went wide. "Surely there's been a mix-up?"
