Chapter: 147
The elevator chimed upon reaching her floor.
Kaitlin fumbled in her bag for her keys. Meanwhile, the adjacent elevator dinged open. Alan had followed them.
"Some people just can't stay away," Quintin muttered under his breath.
"Don't mind him. Let's just go inside," Kaitlin suggested, finally finding her keys and unlocking the door. She didn't even glance back at Alan.
Once the door was securely shut behind them, Alan exhaled a deep sigh outside.
Inside, Kaitlin mentioned casually, "There are drinks in the fridge. Help yourself."
This was Quintin's first time stepping into Kaitlin's apartment. He usually said goodbye right after dropping her off downstairs.
The apartment was neatly arranged, the sofa adorned with stuffed animals, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
“This place is pretty nice," Quintin remarked, scanning the room.
Kaitlin, seated in a lounge chair and seemingly miles away, didn't catch his compliment.
Quintin continued to survey the place, eventually fetching himself a drink from the fridge. "You must be hungry. There's a lot of food here. How about I whip us up something to eat?"
Kaitlin was abruptly pulled from her reverie and quickly dismissed the offer. "Oh, there's no need for that."
“Why are you being so formal with me?" Quintin asked, already donning an apron he had found.
Kaitlin was a bit taken aback, instinctively stepping closer. "You can cook?"
Quintin flashed her a mischievous smile, lifting an eyebrow.
“Surprised? You've barely scratched the surface of my skills."
Kaitlin was genuinely surprised. She had always pegged Quintin as the kind of wealthy guy who wouldn't even boil water himself.
As she watched, Quintin adeptly started cutting vegetables, which left her quite impressed.
Kaitlin's eyes widened in admiration. "You're really good at this."
"Definitely. I've put in a lot of practice," he replied, his serious tone causing Kaitlin to chuckle.
“Why would you practice this?" She Laughed.
Quintin was busy dealing with the ingredients.
Just when Kaitlin thought he might not address her playful inquiry, he responded.
Amid the warmth and hustle of the kitchen, he gave her a deep, intent Look.
