Chapter: 150
"I understand. Please, try to calm down. You can't stay here any longer. I'll arrange a new place for you by tomorrow."

Ashley nodded, her eyes wide with Lingering fear.

Alan gently withdrew his arm. "You'll stay in a hotel tonight."

"No! Alan, he'll find me. He could be watching us right now." Ashley trembled, the fear palpable in her voice.

Alan exhaled deeply, his patience thinning. "What do you suggest we do?"

“Let me stay with you, Alan. I promise I won't be any trouble. If he finds me again, I might never see you again. He'll take me away for sure!" Ashley pleaded between sobs.

Alan hesitated, the weight of her plea hanging in the air.

After a long silence, he simply said, "Drive."

Relief washed over Ashley as they headed to Alan's place, where she would seek refuge.

Although assigned a guest room on the first floor, she found herself quite content with the arrangement.

Alan, feeling somewhat weary, quickly gave a few instructions to the household staff before retiring upstairs to rest.

As soon as the door closed behind her, Ashley's anxious demeanor faded, giving way to a smug smile of satisfaction.

Pulling out her phone, she glanced at a message from an unknown sender.

“This job will cost you extra."

Without hesitation, Ashley typed back, "No problem, just make sure it goes smoothly!"

She had concocted a tale about an abusive ex-husband and even recruited a man to enact the role.

During her time abroad, she had been with a wealthy elderly man who had since passed away.

Without a poignant backstory, how could she possibly garner Alan's sympathy and attention?

After sending her response, Ashley promptly deleted all the messages.

She stowed her phone away and indulged in a luxurious, long hot bath.

Planning to take a brief hiatus from her work at the subsidiary, she intended to fully enjoy her stay at Alan's estate before he might decide to send her away.

Content with her schemes, Ashley slipped into the brand-new pajamas provided by the staff.

These garments, likely prepared for Kaitlin, were now hers to relish.

She slept deeply into the late morning before rising for breakfast.
