Chapter: 156
Kaitlin made her way to the Oasis Studio, planning to spend some time at Phoebe's place.
No sooner had Kaitlin entered Phoebe's office than Phoebe immediately noticed her distress.
"What happened? Who upset you this time?" Phoebe asked.
Although Kaitlin had managed to compose herself, Phoebe wasn't fooled.
Kaitlin stayed quiet, yet Phoebe had her suspicions.
“Was it Alan? You're always too forgiving with him, and look how he's got you all worked up again! And you're pregnant, no less!"
Kaitlin, feeling somewhat trapped, motioned for Phoebe to keep it down.
“We're in the studio. Do you really want everyone to know what's going on?"
Phoebe agreed but remained visibly distressed. “What went wrong this time?"
Kaitlin hesitated, knowing full well that mentioning Ashley would only ignite Phoebe's temper.
It would be enough to raise the roof with her rage.
“Are you done with work? I need to crash at your place for a few days, but let's keep it between us," Kaitlin said.
Phoebe's expression darkened, as if she were bracing for a severe crisis. "It sounds like you two really had it out this time."
“You could put it that way. For now, I just need some space from him, and I definitely don't want him showing up."
Phoebe inhaled sharply, her reaction slightly exaggerated. "Then my place is the last spot you should be. What if he decides to barge in while I'm at work?"
Kaitlin hesitated, considering the possibility. "So, what do you suggest?"
Phoebe's eyes darted to Quintin, who was striding towards the office, and her lips curled into a sly grin. "You need a hiding spot he'd never think to check."
Confusion flickered across Kaitlin's face. Was there truly anywhere in QOsewood Alan wouldn't track her down?
She only needed a few days out of sight.
"You're in the Pinewood, aren't you, Quintin?" she called out.
He glanced over, nodding. "Yes, why?"
"Maybe Kaitlin could stay with you. It's somewhat out of the way, so Alan wouldn't find you immediately."
Catching Phoebe's impish smile, Kaitlin read between the lines. "No, that won't work, It's not practical. I'll just bunk at your place for a bit."
After all, Quintin was a respectable, unmarried man. Staying at his place could stir up unnecessary rumors.
