Chapter: 160
His disabled uncle was well-cared for yet unable to use his real name, which was likely a severe torment.

“Alan, you're all family. Why cling to past grievances? Why can't you just forgive?"

Alan remained silent, knowing that revealing Miguel's plot to kill his parents would devastate Beth.

To lose one son to death and another to crime would be too much for her.

“Alan, I know you are a man of principles. That's why our family business thrives under your guidance. I assure you, your uncle will never interfere with the company again. The Hewitt Group will stay yours alone. I'm just an old woman asking to have her son by her side."

Beth's voice trembled with emotion, her eyes filling with tears.

“How many years do I have left? Why can't you fulfill this one last wish for me?"

Alan gazed at his grandmother's tear-stained face, feeling his determination falter.

“Just let Miguel return. ALL you need to do is revoke the warrant. He's already disabled. He can't pose any danger to you. This feud- it's nothing but a joke to everyone else," Beth said, her voice sharp with frankness as she weighed the situation for him.

Alan remained silent, prompting Beth to shift the conversation, sensing she might be pressing too hard.

She mentioned Kaitlin instead. "Are you and Kaitlin having issues again? She hasn't been around much. What's happening? Tell me, and I'll help you sort it out."

Alan had indeed come with the intention of discussing Kaitlin, hoping Beth could help bridge the gap.

He was aware Kaitlin wouldn't meet with him, but Beth might sway her.

"We had a misunderstanding, and now she's nowhere to be found."

Beth exhaled deeply. “I see. I'll try to bring her here. Why don't you stay for a while?"

"Staying is fine, but I doubt she'll show up."

"That's easy to handle. I'll feign an illness," Beth said.

When Kaitlin received Beth's call, she hesitated. She vividly remembered Beth's harsh words when Lilliana faked her pregnancy.

Now, with her pregnancy visible, Beth's demeanor had softened.

In the end, Beth wasn't concerned about her personally. Her interest was in the baby she carried.

“Why aren't you picking up? Is it Alan?" Phoebe inquired.

Kaitlin shook her head. “It's his grandmother."

"That old woman? Just ignore her. I'm pretty sure the whole Hewitt family is trouble." Phoebe grabbed the phone and tossed it onto the couch, silencing its buzzing. “There, problem solved. Now, go take a shower."

She handed Kaitlin a fresh set of pajamas. "They're clean. I haven't worn them yet."
