Chapter: 178
With a sigh of relief, Dylan exited.

Kaitlin hung up clothes on the door for Alan to change into later.

When Alan sat down again, he seemed composed, yet a trace of anger lingered on his face.

"Okay, tell me, what exactly happened?" Kaitlin's gaze was fixed on him, curious about the events at Eden Manor.

"Someone drugged me."

"Did you try to fight it?" A hint of irritation crossed Kaitlin's face as she slightly pursed her lips.

Alan shook his head. “I felt helpless to resist, so I turned to you for help."

Kaitlin's heart fluttered as she met his clear gaze.

"Your restraint is remarkable. I've heard that drug can overpower your senses within minutes, yet you managed to stay coherent enough to take a cold shower and recover." Kaitlin expressed her astonishment.

"I'm baffled as well." After a thoughtful pause, Alan recounted the evening's events. The only beverage he consumed was provided by Ashley.

If that drink was tampered with, everything clicked.

But who would drug the drink?

Suspicion increasingly pointed toward Ashley, planting a seed of doubt in Alan's mind.

Kaitlin chose not to delve deeper. The incident had unexpectedly drawn them closer.

Alan had his people on the case, but the leads were fading fast, making it difficult to pinpoint the culprit.

The surveillance system at Eden Manor had failed that night, leaving them without any video evidence.

Frustrated, Alan's team eventually had to confront him with the grim reality. "Mr. Hewitt, what should we do about this?"

Alan nodded, lost in thought for a moment. “How's Ashley been doing at headquarters lately?"

Dylan replied, "She has kept herself in line."

"I got it," Alan said, deciding to shelve the matter for future investigation.

Meanwhile, Kaitlin had taken a few days off at home when Oasis Studio landed a substantial contract.

The client was ready to pay handsomely but had several specific requirements, insisting on Kaitlin's involvement.

Phoebe rang Kaitlin to gauge her thoughts.

“We might consider passing on this one. You really shouldn't push yourself too hard right now. I can turn it down," Phoebe said.
