Chapter: 179
"No, let's not pass up such a_ significant opportunity. It's understandable they have many requirements. They specifically requested me. It shows they trust my expertise." Kaitlin paused, reassuringly adding, "Don't worry, I promise to take it easy."
Satisfied, Phoebe arranged a meeting with the client for two days later.
The initial meeting at the Oasis Studio's conference room was slightly strained.
Kaitlin faced the client, Manuel Thomas, listening intently to his stipulations.
"I can work with all of these. I'll adhere closely to your guidelines." Kaitlin let out a quiet sigh of relief. The client's requirements were all professional and manageable.
"Ms. Gilbert, you're quite straightforward. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. But there is one condition. My secretary, Whitney Jones, must be involved in the entire process,"
Manuel said.
Kaitlin's brow furrowed slightly as she glanced at his secretary, Whitney.
What did he mean by that? Was Whitney supposed to act as a supervisor?
Phoebe pressed her lips together and immediately objected. "Mr. Thomas, that might not be the best idea."
“What's the issue? Whitney has a background in design too. How can I feel confident without someone I trust overseeing the project? Ms. Gilbert, surely you can understand that," Manuel insisted.
Faced with his unwavering stance, Kaitlin reluctantly agreed.
Even if Whitney were to supervise, it posed no real threat.
They would maintain their usual workflow and simply be a bit more vigilant.
"Given your request, we'll do our best to accommodate it," Kaitlin said.
Manuel pounded the table with enthusiasm, grinning broadly.
“Excellent, Ms. Gilbert. Your directness is refreshing. I eagerly anticipate the first phase of the project and trust everyone will approach it with dedication."
After the meeting concluded, Phoebe showed Manuel's team out, while Whitney followed Kaitlin to her office.
“For the duration of this project, you'll be considered part of the team. We'll ensure your stay at Oasis Studio is comfortable. Please, feel free to share any suggestions you might have." Kaitlin offered a courteous smile, delivering the usual pleasantries.
Whitney observed her briefly. "Ms. Gilbert, where will I be stationed?"
“Currently, we're out of spare cubicles. I'll have HR prepare a desk for you by tomorrow. You'll have to make do without one for today.”
A shadow of annoyance crossed Whitney's face. She was here on behalf of Manuel, and yet there was no desk ready for her?
Was this indicative of Oasis Jewelry's attitude toward their client?
"Ms. Gilbert, this seems inappropriate. Your office is quite roomy. Perhaps I could work here for now? It would facilitate easier communication."
