Chapter: 214
Shawn was lounging on the office sofa, legs crossed, appearing very much at ease.
Upon her entry, he glanced up briefly and asked in a calm voice, “Finished with your meeting?"
He had the air of a major executive surveying Oasis Studio.
Kaitlin approached him. “Mr. Murphy, have you been waiting long? Why didn't you ask the assistant to call me?"
Shawn lifted his coffee cup, taking a leisurely sip. "The coffee is quite good. I didn't mind the wait."
As Kaitlin settled onto the adjacent sofa, she noted Shawn's gentlemanly demeanor in choosing to wait.
“Mr. Murphy, was there something specific you needed today?"
Setting his coffee cup down, Shawn offered her a warm smile. “Ms. Gilbert, have you forgotten what you mentioned last night?"
A hint of confusion crossed Kaitlin's face. Was he referring to the partnership, or something else?
"You talked about showing me around Osewood. It seems you've forgotten," he reminded her.
Kaitlin suddenly remembered something and smacked her forehead. "Oh, my memory! How are you finding it here? Are you coping with the jet lag okay?"
Shawn shook his head. "I'm used to working late hours. The time difference here in Osewood actually works out for me."
“That sounds tiring." Setting her papers aside, Kaitlin gave serious thought to acting as Shawn's tour guide.
Someone like Shawn probably didn't have a real interest in sightseeing.
His main goal was more likely to delve deeper into a potential partnership with Oasis Jewelry.
Considering this was a test, why not embrace it? It was a better option than missing out entirely.
"If you're up for it, how about we take a tour? Would you rather indulge in fine dining and wine, or enjoy the natural landscapes and views?" Kaitlin asked.
She refrained from making a decision as she still wasn't familiar with Shawn's likes or temperament.
Choosing poorly could lead to repercussions.
Shawn pondered briefly. “Let's just take it easy."
His ambiguous answer increased the pressure on Kaitlin.
Relaxing could imply anything from a meal out to engaging in outdoor activities.
Noticing her uncertainty, Shawn clarified, "Ms. Gilbert, I'm happy with whatever form of relaxation you pick."
He left the choice to Kaitlin, who quickly agreed.
