Chapter: 224
Today, the store was closed just for Kaitlin's visit, leaving them alone in the quiet expanse.
From this viewpoint, they could gaze out over the cityscape of Osewood, which possessed a distinctive charm.
They stood in silence, absorbed in the view.
Time seemed to stretch, pausing around them.
Then, abruptly, a scream broke the tranquility. Kaitlin's head snapped up towards the noise, and Shawn swiftly moved to shield her.
“Watch out!"
Regaining her bearings, Kaitlin saw the remnants of a smashed flowerpot at her feet, dirt strewn all around.
Beside her, Shawn winced, nursing a cut on his arm caused by the debris.
If Shawn hadn't stepped in to protect her, she would have been the one injured.
"Mr. Murphy, are you okay? Let's get you to a hospital!" she exclaimed.
With gratitude, Kaitlin immediately assisted Shawn in making their way downstairs.
The manager, alarmed by the noise, hurried over. "Mr. Murphy, are you alright? It looks like someone hurled something from above."
Shawn gave a nod. "Check it out. I'm heading to the hospital to get this seen to."
“Understood, Mr. Murphy. Don't worry."
Kaitlin guided Shawn into the car, and without a word, the driver sped off to the hospital.
Upon their arrival, Shawn was swiftly taken to receive treatment for his wound, allowing Kaitlin to finally let out a sigh of relief.
Reflecting on the incident, she found it deeply unsettling.
As she waited for an update on Shawn, rapid footsteps resounded down the hallway.
Turning around, she saw Alan, his face etched with concern.
“Kaitlin, are you alright?" he asked.
Alan checked her for injuries with a firm grip on her shoulders, his tension easing only after confirming she was unharmed.
“What happened exactly?"
Alan had hurried to the hospital as soon as he got the news about Kaitlin being there.
He was relieved to find out that she wasn't the one injured.
