Chapter: 234
They were collaborating for the first time. Why would Shawn trust her so implicitly?

Was it solely due to Oasis Jewelry's solid reputation in Osewood, or was there more to it?

As a businessman, Shawn knew the value of profit above all else.

Surely, he wouldn't offer such favorable terms just for a good company reputation.

Contemplating these points, Kaitlin grew increasingly anxious.

What ulterior motive could Shawn have for getting close to her?

"I'll continue to look into Shawn's activities. Just be careful, and try to avoid meeting with him alone," Alan reiterated.

With that, he took the car keys, opened the passenger door for Kaitlin, and assisted her into the car.

"Besides, the way Shawn treats you like a chauffeur is absurd," Alan added, unable to hide his irritation.

Unlike Shawn, Alan could never bring himself to ask Kaitlin to run his errands.

The fact that Kaitlin hadn't realized this showed how naive she was.

She had gotten herself deeply engrossed in the project, meticulously Managing every detail, and was unaware of the potential dangers lurking behind seemingly generous gestures.

A few days later, when Shawn invited Kaitlin out again, her perspective had shifted.

Their meetings, although framed as business, had become too frequent.

Shawn managed numerous overseas operations. How could he possibly have so much free time?

Kaitlin had so many questions, but she maintained a composed facade.

Finally, she arrived at the destination. "Mr. Murphy, traffic was heavy, so I got late," she said as she settled into her seat.

Shawn responded with a nonchalant nod and slid a cup of brewed coffee towards her. "Try this," he suggested.

Kaitlin lifted the cup, savored the aroma, and took a sip.

The coffee was good, and even though she wasn't a regular coffee drinker, she recognized its excellence.

"Not bad," Kaitlin remarked, offering a smile.

Shawn returned the smile. “Last time, you showed me how to grind coffee beans. This time, it was my turn to treat you to some fine coffee. Consider it a fair exchange," he proposed.

Kaitlin's curiosity intensified. Was this meeting not about business?

Recalling Alan's warnings, she felt the situation growing increasingly peculiar. “Mr. Murphy, how is your overseas business managing? Staying in Osewood for such an extended period must make remote management challenging, right?" she asked.
