Chapter: 235
Shawn glanced at her briefly before a smile played on his Lips.

“It's alright. Being in Osewood feels almost like a vacation," he responded casually.

"Mr. Murphy, you really do have a great sense of humor," Kaitlin remarked. “Someone as busy as you probably doesn't get much time for vacations."

Her words were increasingly polite, causing Shawn to frown slightly.

Just days earlier, they had interacted with the ease of friends.

Yet, after only a brief time apart, they seemed to revert to mere acquaintances.

Shawn noticed the shift but chose not to force the issue.

He led the conversation, covering various topics, including the jewelry industry.

Gradually, Kaitlin seemed to relax. "Mr. Murphy, our joint project is nearly complete," she said excitedly.

As Kaitlin steered the conversation toward their work, it prompted Shawn to adopt a more serious tone. "I've planned a launch event for next week," he said.

"Alright." Kaitlin nodded in agreement. "I'll make sure it's on my schedule.

They delved into the event's specifics for some time. Eventually, Kaitlin made her move to leave.

Shawn offered to drive her back to her studio, but she politely declined.

"I drove here myself, so there's no need for that, thank you," she said.

"Kaitlin, actually, I invited you out today because I wanted to apologize for last time," Shawn confessed.

"Mr. Murphy, why would you feel the need to apologize?" Kaitlin looked surprised.

“Mr. Hewitt is your boyfriend and things got a bit awkward last time. I was concerned it might have caused some tension between you two,"

Shawn explained.

"I think you're overthinking it." Kaitlin shook her head dismissively.

A flicker of concern crossed Shawn's eyes. "I've been in Osewood for a while now and hadn't heard much about your relationship with Mr. Hewitt, which led to that misunderstanding," he clarified.

A tightness gripped Kaitlin's chest as Shawn kept bringing up Alan.

Her doubts were deepening.

“My relationship with Alan is complicated, but isn't that the case with most adult relationships?" Kaitlin laughed off her concerns.

Shawn returned the smile. "True. But remember, if you ever need help, don't hesitate to call. We're friends now, right?" he asked.
