"I'll let you go, but you can't scream. Any tricks, and I'll mar your pretty face. Without it, who will be charmed by you?" Owen's threat was clear.
Owen had Ashley's weakness figured out, so she nodded frantically in response.
Releasing her, Owen toyed with the switchblade.
“Ashley, you didn't expect me to come to you, did you?" he taunted, his eyes gleaming maliciously.
Ashley took deep breaths, trying to muster her composure. “Owen, let's not escalate this. We can talk it out. There's no need for violence," she pleaded.
Owen scoffed. “Smart girl. Now, hand over some money," he demanded, extending his hand.
Ashley quickly retrieved a card from her bag and handed it to him.
Her life was worth more than money.
"How much is on here?" Owen asked sharply.
“Three hundred thousand. It's all yours, Owen," Ashley responded, forcing a placating smile.
Owen pocketed the card, but his expression remained greedy. "I've suffered a lot because of you. I almost died, you know? This isn't enough. Do you see me as some beggar?" His tone was bitter, filled with contempt.
Taking another deep breath, Ashley reached into her wallet once more.
Owen snatched it eagerly, determined to take everything she had.
Ashley pressed her lips tightly together, too terrified to speak.
“Is this sufficient now, Owen?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Owen examined the wallet and finally nodded, his face softening slightly. “Ashley, consider this just the beginning. When this money runs out, I'll be back for more," he said, chuckling ominously.
With those chilling words, he turned and disappeared into the night.
Once he was out of sight, Ashley collapsed to the ground.
A malicious glint sparkled briefly in her eyes.
Having acquired the money, Owen headed to a casino.
He was heavily disguised, wearing a mask and having dyed his hair blonde to obscure his identity.
With Alan's men on the hunt for him, he needed to remain concealed.
Despite receiving some funds from Shawn, Owen had quickly squandered them at the casino.
Afterward, he saw no choice but to resort to extorting Ashley.
