Chapter: 25
“Mrs. Hewitt, I just needed to know where Mr. Hewitt's office supplies are stored. I hope I'm not interrupting."
With a sigh, Kaitlin told Dylan the locations of Alan's office supplies. Then, she shared Alan's preferences with Dylan.
She concluded with a clear reminder. "Please, don't call me Mrs. Hewitt. I'm divorced from Alan."
Dylan, catching Alan's scrutinizing gaze, felt a surge of anxiety.
Alan had appeared contemplative at first, but the mention of divorce made his features grow stormier.
Choosing not to provoke further reprimand, Dylan remained silent on further inquiries.
“Oh, and ensure you prepare him some honey water after his gatherings."
Kaitlin's laugh held a touch of sorrow. Reflecting on the past, she felt reduced to nearly a servant, Despite being a devoted wife for three years, she couldn't win him over.
"That's all. Call me if you need anything else."
"Thank you, I appreciate it."
With those words, Kaitlin ended the call promptly.
Dylan pocketed his phone, sensing a shift in the room's mood.
Alan's frown deepened as he pondered why he had never acknowledged the depth of Kaitlin's dedication.
"Mr. Hewitt, I have taken note of everything Miss Gilbert advised. I will pay closer attention from here on."
As Dylan spoke, he realized he had yet to adjust his form of address.
To his surprise, Alan seemed indifferent to this oversight, instead speaking softly to himself. "She relinquished all claims to the property. Does she even have enough to get by?"
Dylan, always perceptive, quickly grasped the subject at hand.
"Mr. Hewitt, should I see how Kaitlin is doing?" he suggested.
“Put the downtown apartment in her name and give her some funds,"
Alan instructed.
Dylan nodded in agreement. "I'll take care of it immediately!"
"Very well, you may Leave now."
Alan then excused Dylan, pulled out a Lighter, and lit a scented candle by himself.
The familiar aroma helped him drift into a peaceful sleep in the Lounge.
