Chapter: 278
“Qwen has disappeared. You won't have to worry about him causing you any more trouble."

A spark of joy lit up Ashley's eyes, her voice tinged with excitement. "Really? Is he..."

The assistant shot Ashley a chilling look, and she hesitated, letting her final words hang in the air.

"Mr. Murphy mentioned that if you can provide valuable information, he might consider a partnership. However, if you continue to be unhelpful, he won't bother reaching out to you again.”

Ashley let out a laugh. “Well, then please inform Mr. Murphy that I was once close to Alan. There's no one more knowledgeable about the Hewitt family than me."

"Is that so? And what about their suburbs project from ten years back? How much do you know about it?"

“The suburbs project from ten years back?" Ashley's brow furrowed.

“Is Mr. Murphy looking into it?"

The assistant's expression didn't waver. "Miss Willis, that's not for you to worry about. Mr. Murphy's plans are his own. If you prove to be of value, he might just lend you a hand when you need it. But let me warn you, Miss Willis. Don't try any tricks with Mr. Murphy."

Ashley nodded solemnly. “Don't worry. I'll figure out what Mr. Murphy is after."

As the assistant walked away, a smug smile flickered across Ashley's face.

If she could just fulfill Shawn's task, she would be with Alan permanently.

Then, her better days would surely begin.

The following morning, Ashley made her way to the Project Department at Hewitt Group.

When the project manager recognized her, her smile turned overtly ingratiating. "Ashley, how may I assist you today?"

Ashley flicked her hair dismissively and gave the project manager a scornful look. "Alan sent me to review the project materials."

Upon hearing Alan's name, the project manager promptly abandoned any pretense of casualness and escorted Ashley to her office with all due respect.

Once comfortably ensconced on the sofa, Ashley adopted an imperious tone. "I need the files on the suburbs from ten years back, and quickly. I'd hate to keep Alan waiting."

“The suburbs project from a decade ago?" The project manager's confusion was palpable.

Oblivious to the project manager's puzzled expression, Ashley continued unabated. "Is there a problem?"

The project manager hesitated. "Those records are archived, and due to their sensitive nature, I can't release them without Mr. Hewitt's direct authorization."

Unaware of such protocols, Ashley struggled to maintain her composure.

“Alan personally sent me. Don't you trust me?"

The project manager, lacking Alan's explicit approval, was reluctant to hand over such confidential documents. "It's important to follow protocol. Perhaps you could call Mr. Hewitt to clarify how we should proceed?"
