Chapter: 306
Marcia gathered her things and checked her phone.
Today, Kaitlin had once again captured the spotlight. The organizers had even arranged a special event for her, complete with a dedicated interview.
In the video, Kaitlin appeared vibrant, smiling brightly amid the crowd.
Marcia clenched her teeth and dialed her assistant's number. "Didn't I ask you to dig up information on Kay's past creations and background? Have you found any dirt on her?"
The assistant shuddered. To the public, Marcia was perceived as a refined and gentle designer.
But privately, the assistant knew that Marcia was easily angered.
Supported by her affluent family, she had substantial resources and was highly esteemed.
“Marcia, I... I couldn't find any information about Kay's past."
Marcia glared at her assistant. "You can't even manage this! If we don't have dirt on her, how can I retaliate? No, I have to find another way!"
Marcia took a deep breath and glanced at her watch. The interview should have concluded. If she could persuade a few reporters to do some malevolent editing and levy some accusations against her, things would simplify.
“Reach out to the reporters who interviewed Kaitlin Gilbert today. Pay for a negative trending article about her."
Marcia instructed her assistant, "Do you understand?"
The assistant nodded. "Understood."
"Then move quickly! I want to see those negative trends before tonight! The second round is the day after tomorrow. There's no time to waste."
The assistant hurried out of the office. Marcia took several deep breaths to calm herself down. She picked up the draft of her design and proceeded to Denton's office. She knocked at his door.
Denton didn't look up, absorbed in his work. "Come in, please."
Marcia entered the office with a bright smile. "Mr. Gilbert, it's me."
Denton looked up and gave Marcia a brief glance.
“What's up?" Denton asked.
Marcia nodded and presented her draft to Denton. "Mr. Gilbert, I'm worried it might not represent the company well in the quarter-finals. Could you review it first? If there are any changes needed, I can address them quickly."
Her tone was soft as she approached him with the draft.
Denton skimmed the draft, but his expression grew stern. “You want me to review it first?"
Marcia missed the irritation on Denton's face as she began to describe her design. "Mr. Gilbert, this piece was inspired by..."
Denton tapped on the table, cutting her off impatiently. "Do you realize what you're doing? I'm a judge in this competition. Isn't it inappropriate for you to show me your draft beforehand?"
